Issue
There are no scientific means to evaluate fashion or to recognice good fashion from bad. This is why nerds, who tend to think rationally, have a very bad fashion reputation.
The fashion definition
Because everything that differs from the regular pattern injects reactions in the viewer the key to a good impression lies in controlling the reactions. This is why a good trend-maker first convince the audience that he is in fact accredited to define what is in and what is out.
The regular attitude seemes to be that: "Because pop-idols are people who have managed to succeed, at least in some way, they are also good enough to judge what to wear."
The pop-idols on the other hand want to shock and sometimes they also want to irritate. Designers do try to be innovative by using canvas like recycled or transparent.
By wearing the latest fashion we really satisfy only the designers. And the butique owners.
Should we invent a new rule?
Mickelsson.net's suggestion is that use the following thread when chosing a fashion judge:
- husband/wife
- boy/girlfriend
- boy/girl "just friends"
- other best friend
- mother/father
- let the computer judge
My own style then?
What about my personality? How can anyone else decide about what I should wear?
As stated above, "your personality" was never really your anyway. It was a reflection of your attitude of an idol's style combined with a desire to belong to social group.
This is why all who are skaters, trendy, nerds, bosses, pastors or in the health care all share the fashion within their area.
