A letter from Shannon to Simon

OLD ARTICLES. Shannons letter to Simon when Simon got married. Simon met Shannon when beeing an exchange student in New Zeeland '94.

God bless you Simon, I hope this letter finds you Alive and well! Simon, I Love you very much. Straight up I want you to know that I am a Jealous brother, who became angry when he couldn’t be with his brother Simon.

Angry that we couldn’t serve God together. I remember praying night after night, for weeks "when oh God will we be together"… I Prayed he would bring us together, and even now, I still pray for us.

I am sad that I don’t maintain the contact like we used to. But I am happy for you that God has blessed you with a great wife!

Ok…. My First Impressions of Simon.

I guess that the first thing I heard about Simon was that the girls all thought he was cute. And well, they were right! But my first impression on Simon was that for some reason he really wanted God more than he wanted to be like others, who at the time were more worried about wearing the right clothes.

I liked that in Simon. That’s what drew me to him. He Loved God and it showed.

My best memory of Simon.

I guess I have lots of good memory's, Like the time we went to Church, we thought we would show up radical. So we did our hair and made it go straight up by using soap and hair spray, and then we wore these John Lennon Sunglasses (Pink and blue) and went right to the front and stuck our feet up on chairs as the International speaker felt uneasy about us being like that! I remember too one night, I was feeling particularly low in my Christianity, but 4 of us decided to go street witnessing. Even though I didn’t want to go, I still went, and we split up in 2 groups. At the end of the night Simon had led 2 men to the Lord, and when we met up with the other 2 they thought that they would say, They had led people to the Lord too, but when they found out about Simons blessing from the Lord they confessed! It was funny, But Simon truly was an Evangel!

I miss the fact that I couldn’t really build a deep friendship with Simon, and I regret the fact that he went home. Even now as I write this, I have not had a close male friend like I wanted to have with Simon.

What wisdom influenced me most that Simon Shared !

This is an easy one, But he shared it with me over the phone.

REBEL FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS! Those words affected my life to the point that I try to model those words every day. Those words have protected me from Religion and stale Christianity. What Simon showed me was that you have to be dedicated to making a difference.

Marriage Tips. How to solve conflicts.

Simon. Love your wife with all your Heart and always be a strong leader in your family. Love your wife through her ears, and allow her to frustrate your ears. Be Quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry! But remember to Love her through her ears!

Keeping your home and Children Holy.

Simon, you already know the answer to this. Revival in the home will be your passion. Let God dismantle your thinking, so that he would be your mind. Stay a Rebel for righteousness, no matter what! And never bow down before Religion.

Simon I Love you and miss you with all my heart.

I have some good news brother. The Christchurch City Council has asked me to work for them as an Advisor on Recreation and Youth issues, working in the poorest part of Christchurch.

Surely Youth Church is closer even still. This gives me a lot of Influence in the area of youth work and My hunger for revival grows with an anger!

I still want you to come and work with me, and grow a Youth church that will capture the hearts of the young people in the South island!

I miss you!

The Joy of the Lord will be your Strength

Jer 29:11

God bless you Simon!

Your Loving brother…
